Discuss garage quotes: explain exactly what is included

Help prospects compare your prefabricated garage quote. Explain included services, optional items and tasks to organise separately.

Two prefabricated garages may look similar, while their quotes cover different services. For manufacturers and dealers serving Germany, reviewing the quote is an opportunity to explain their own scope clearly. Your customer should understand the decision before you respond to a simple price comparison with another total.

Ask what the comparison is based on

Start with an open question: “Which services would you like to compare side by side?” Some prospects compare only the garage; others expect delivery, placement and preparatory work together. Ask them to state that expectation explicitly and open the relevant version of your quote.

Use only information you can explain. If information about the other quote is missing, identify it as unknown during the conversation. Your aim is a clear basis for comparison, not a judgement of a competitor based on assumptions.

Walk through your scope in three groups

  • Included in the quote: Show the specified garage and the delivery or placement services actually included. Refer to the relevant items during the conversation.
  • Offered as an option: Explain additional equipment only if it is genuinely available in your quote or range. Say whether the amount being discussed includes it.
  • To organise separately: Identify tasks your quote does not cover. Ask whether the prospect has already discussed responsibility or still needs to coordinate it.

Work through each group using the document. Words such as “complete” or “turnkey” offer little help on their own if each person understands them differently. A specific item and allocation of tasks are easier to follow.

Example: same garage, different expectation

Suppose your quote includes the garage, delivery and placement. Preparatory work is listed separately. The customer mentions another price and says they want “one company for everything”. First ask which task they would otherwise need to organise and where they expect support.

Then explain what your business actually offers. If a requested addition needs specialist review first, record it as an open task. Do not promise additional work or confirm that delivery to the property is possible merely from this conversation.

Sum up the comparison in one sentence: “We have clarified what is included; responsibility for preparation is still open.” That gives the next response a purpose. A discount would not answer the responsibility question.

Finish with an overview the customer can use

Record the quote version, explained services and remaining task. Agree who will prepare which answer and when you will discuss it. If an option changes, mark the affected scope in the new version so that two different totals do not appear without explanation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the complete competing quote?

You can start by explaining your own quote and asking which services are being compared. Anything you do not know about another quote stays unresolved; do not invent missing items.

How should I answer a request for an all-in price?

Start with the specific scope described in your quote. Identify separate or unresolved services so the total is not mistaken for a price covering undefined additional work.

What should the customer take away?

A clear distinction between included services, explicitly offered options and tasks still to organise. Add the agreed next step and the person responsible.
